Travel Details
Individual arrival in Enkhuizen, located approximately 65 km (60 minutes by car) northwest of Amsterdam. Embarkation from 2:00 p.m. In the evening, the skipper will tell you interesting facts about the trip and the ship over an aperitif and inform you about the safety measures on board. You will spend the evening and the first night on the ship in the port of Enkhuizen.
Your first bike tour begins in the pretty harbor town of Enkhuizen with its historic old town. You cycle along the IJsselmeer to the old harbor town of Medemblik. Then you continue by boat to Den Oever with its small fishing harbor, which is well worth seeing. Depending on the weather, the boat may already set sail today for the Wadden Sea and the island of Texel.
Explore Texel, the largest West Frisian island, with its varied landscape and picturesque villages on a circular bike tour today. Tip: Take the well-signposted Thijsseroute (approx. 40 km) and visit the Ecomare seal sanctuary.
Today, the sails are set. Your destination is the island of Terschelling, located further east. You will cross the Wadden Sea with its many sandbanks, where you may see seals. During the sailing trip today, a hearty lunch will be served instead of dinner. Weather permitting, you will dine on deck. The exact route and duration of the trip depend on the tidal currents and wind. You will arrive on Terschelling in the afternoon. The pretty villages on this narrow, approximately 30 km long island have retained much of their old charm. No dinner will be served on board today, giving you the opportunity to explore the harbor of this beautiful island with its many nice restaurants and pubs.
Yesterday you mainly sailed, today you will be cycling again. Terschelling has a lot to offer: nature and culture, 70 km of cycle paths and four beautiful villages. West-Terschelling is the largest town on the island with numerous shops and pubs. The island's landmark can be seen from afar, the 400-year-old “Brandaris” lighthouse. Also worth seeing is the heathland area “De Boschplaat,” characterized by mudflats, beaches, and dunes. With a little luck, you will see lots of ducks, stilts, and large colonies of spoonbills and great black-backed gulls. In the late afternoon, you will sail to Harlingen, the most important port in Friesland.
Your bike tour starts in Harlingen, a lively Frisian port town with a beautiful historic city center. Via Franeker, with its famous Eise Eisinga planetarium, the cycle route continues through the wonderful, expansive Frisian countryside to Makkum. This pretty holiday resort on the eastern shore of the IJsselmeer offers a beach promenade, many small restaurants, and shops. The longer tour option also takes you to Bolsward, one of the eleven Frisian cities.
From Makkum, you cycle to Stavoren. The short route takes you through the old trading town of Hindeloopen. Hindelooper painting is world-famous. The first Frisian ice skating museum is also located here. The long route takes you past several lakes in the Frisian Lake District, revealing a completely different landscape. From Stavoren, the ship sets course for Enkhuizen.
After breakfast, disembarkation by 9:30 a.m. and individual journey home.
