Through the lavender fields of Provence to Burgundy

On the Rhône, the river with the highest water content in France, trade goods and building materials were already transported during Roman times. The starting point of this journey is the beautiful town of Arles in the south of France. Through the Rhône Valley you come to Avignon with the world-famous bridge. You continue via Viviers - lavender harvesting and truffle hunting are part of the surroundings of the small town on the Rhône like the cathedral from the 12th century, pass the important wine-growing areas of the Côtes du Rhône and finally reach Burgundy. The destination is Lyon, an exciting cultural metropolis on the Rhône and the third largest city in France.

Individual arrival in Lyon. Embarkation at 06:00 p.m. (luggage can be brought on board from 02:00 p.m.). Around 07:00 p.m. the tour guide and the crew will greet you with an aperitif at dinner. Afterwards the captain will tell you interesting facts about the trip and the life on board.

Today you cycle from Arles, Van Gogh's homeland, through the beautiful Provence. Soon you see the panorama of Avignon, the home of the popes in the 14th century. Enjoy the French way of life in the beautiful squares of the old town.

Along the river you drive towards the famous wine village Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The climb is rewarded with a beautiful view over the river and perhaps a glass of ice wine? In the small village of Saint-Etienne-des-Sorts you will meet your boat again. Around 06:00 p.m. boat trip to Viviers.

This morning enjoy the landscape around Viviers before you set off. Cross the Rochemaure suspension bridge to the medieval abbey of Cruas before reaching your destination for today, Pouzin.

Today you come to the department of Ardèche with its typical small villages and historical sites. At the end of a beautiful day's journey through beautiful landscapes, you can explore the city of Valence, today's destination, with its historic "quarters". Boat trip to Tournon-sur-Rhône.

During breakfast boat trip to Andance. Start of your cycle tour through green nature and through the vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône. Continue towards Île au Beurre, a nature reserve where you can enjoy the tranquillity of nature before reaching the city of Vienne. Boat trip to Lyon.

Today belongs to the exploration of Lyon. In the course of its two thousand years of history, the city has developed in the style of bygone eras and offers visitors a unique atmosphere now. To begin your cycle tour, first explore the green side of Lyon, then discover the landscapes between the Saône and Rhône rivers. In any case, you should park your bike on the banks of the river to explore the old town on foot. You may also want to leave your bike on board today to spend the whole day in this wonderful city.

After breakfast, disembarkation until 09:00 a.m. and individual journey home.

Medium to demanding. With a few exceptions, you can cycle on the new Rhône cycle path, but also on secondary roads. Some gradients have to be overcome. Medium physical condition is required.

Arrival by plane:

Lyon Airport: continue by taxi or Rhône-Express

( = Tram shuttle service, between Lyon airport and Lyon Partdieu station)

Airport Nîmes: continue by train to Arles.

From the train station take a taxi to the mooring.

Arrival by train:

You can reach Lyon and Arles by TGV from almost all major French cities. Continue by taxi to the moorings.

Parking in Lyon:

(Attention: environmental sticker required), e.g. parking garage Q Park Lyon Gare Perrache, 2 Rue Smith, 69002 Lyon, approx. 20 minutes from the mooring, € 21,- for 24 hours.

Parking in Arles:

free and unguarded near the main railway station (address Gare d'Arles, 13200 Arles), about 5 minutes from the mooring.

Embarkation: 06:00 – 07:00 p.m. (luggage can be brought on board from 02:00 p.m.) • Disembarkation: until 09:00 a.m. • Rental bikes on board: Smooth running 24-speed unisex tour bikes with freewheel, carrier bag. 8-speed electric bikes with freewheel, carrier bag (limited number - early booking required). Please state your height when booking • To bring your own bike: Due to the limited space available on the sun deck, your own bike can only be taken on request and only to a limited extent (max. 6 bikes). • Mandatory helmet: A helmet must be worn on the bike tours. For an optimal fit, we recommend that you take your own helmet with you. To a limited extent you can also buy a helmet on board (€ 20,-) • Bike tours: individual and unguided. All kilometre indications given are estimated distances from the recommended cycling tours • Cycling routes / Level of difficulty: Medium to demanding. With a few exceptions, you can cycle on the new Rhône cycle path, but also on secondary roads. Some gradients have to be overcome. Medium physical condition is required. • Luggage: We recommend that you bring padded cycling shorts, cycling gloves, cycling helmet, sun hat and sports shoes.
