Tour details

You’ll board the ship in Passau with your four-legged friend. Boarding begins at 3 pm, and your relaxing Danube cruise sets off about an hour later. Leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind as the scenery drifts peacefully past you. You’ll arrive in Brandstatt in the evening.

Panoramic view of Passau's historic old town with colorful baroque buildings, prominent church towers with green domes, and river cruise ships docked along the waterfront.

The next day, the idyllic town of Grein awaits you. The historic old town, with Greinburg Castle and the riverside promenade, is the perfect place for your first strolls together – an ideal start to your trip. On a guided walking tour of the town with your dog (optional, €26 per person), you’ll learn more about the town’s history and see, among other things, the beautiful arcaded courtyards and the old town hall.

Grein harbor with boats moored along the Danube River. Greinburg castle sits prominently on a hill above the town with forested mountains in background.

During breakfast, your ship will leave Grein and continue on to Emmersdorf. There, you can enjoy a leisurely walk or, alternatively, take a transfer to Melk with your dog (optional, €15 per person). In the afternoon, you will leave Emmersdorf and your ship will set course for the imperial city of Vienna, which you will reach at around 10 pm.

Melk Abbey's yellow baroque facade with twin towers and ornate architecture perched on a rocky hill covered with lush green vegetation.

Today you’ll get to know the Austrian capital better. In the morning, you can take part in the ‘Vienna by Tram with Your Dog’ excursion (optional, €34 per person). On this excursion, you’ll walk with your tour guide from the ship along the Danube to Nussdorfer Platz, where you’ll board a tram on line D. Dogs must wear a muzzle and also require a ticket. Now you’ll enjoy a “slightly different” city tour. The tour guide will share lots of interesting facts about daily life along this route. You’ll get off at the Opera House and start a walk from Karlsplatz to the famous Naschmarkt. Here you’ll have some free time to explore the market on your own before heading back together towards St. Charles’s Church and the Musikverein. At the Opera House, you’ll see the Hotel Sacher before taking the tram back. In the afternoon, your ship will leave Vienna and continue on to Rossatz.

Bronze equestrian statue on Heldenplatz in Vienna with Vienna City Hall's Gothic tower and spires visible in the background under cloudy sky.
Triangular slice of dark chocolate Sacher cake with Hotel Sacher seal on top, served with decorative whipped cream rosette on white plate.

In the morning, the ship leaves Rossatz and sails upstream through the stunning landscape of the Wachau. It reaches Pöchlarn, the birthplace of the painter Oskar Kokoschka, at around 1.00 pm. During a short stop, there will be time for a stroll through the small town or along the Danube promenade.

The ship then continues its journey, arriving in Mauthausen or Enns in the evening.

In the historic region around Mauthausen or Enns, you can look forward to peaceful paths along the river and plenty of space for long walks in a relaxed atmosphere. At lunchtime, the ship leaves Mauthausen or Enns and shortly afterwards reaches Linz, the lively capital of Upper Austria. Linz combines modern architecture with charming alleyways and attractive Danube promenades.

In the morning, there is a guided walking tour of Linz’s old town with a dog (optional, €26 per person), taking in the Old Town Hall and the Old Cathedral. The Baroque main square, one of the largest enclosed squares in Austria, forms the heart of the city. The imposing St Mary’s Cathedral, Austria’s largest church, is also one of the highlights of the tour. Afterwards, there will be some time for you to explore on your own before returning to the ship.

At midday, the ship continues its journey and arrives in Brandstatt in the afternoon. There, you can take the dog for another walk and explore the small town. We then continue on to Engelhartszell, a small village near the German-Austrian border.

Baroque Trinity Column stands in the center of Linz's Hauptplatz, surrounded by colorful historic buildings and flower beds under a blue sky.

In the early hours of the morning, your ship will leave Engelhartszell and sail back to Passau.
Disembarkation will take place there between 8.00 am and 9.00 am. You will then make your own way home.

Aerial view of Passau's Three Rivers Corner where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet, showing the historic city center with colorful buildings.

Information on travelling with a dog:

One dog weighing up to 25 kg or two dogs, each with a shoulder height of up to 30 cm, may be brought on board per cabin. In an emergency or when transferring to another vessel, you must be able to carry your dog yourself.

Dogs must be house-trained and well-behaved. Female dogs in heat are not permitted on board.

EU pet passport and proof of a valid rabies vaccination. Furthermore, all dogs must be microchipped (proof required). A muzzle must also be carried.

Dogs must be kept on a lead on board. In addition, the relevant regional regulations apply; for example, in Upper Austria, dogs must be kept on a lead and must wear a muzzle on public transport and in crowds of more than 50 people. Dog owners must dispose of their dog’s waste.

Life on board with a dog

Everyone on board is committed to ensuring you and your dog have a wonderful holiday. Naturally, with so many dogs travelling with us, a few ‘house rules’ must be followed. Your dog is permitted to stay on board on a lead in all guest areas. We recommend that you do not take your dog into the restaurant. Use of the wellness area with indoor pool and sauna is reserved for dog owners.

The routes of our dog-friendly cruises are designed to ensure your four-legged friend gets as much exercise as possible. Between longer stretches of the journey, we make stops for walks, which are marked on the respective itinerary. In addition, there is a small dog run on the sun deck for your dog to do its business.

Boarding from 3 pm

Disembarkation between 8 am and 9 am

Minimum number of participants: 100 people, 21 days prior to arrival

Excursion programme: Bookable exclusively on board. A brief description will be provided with your travel documents.

We reserve the right to make changes to the timetable and programme. If, for example, a section of the route cannot be navigated due to low water, high water or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to alter the route for your safety (this does not constitute grounds for free cancellation). The same applies in the event of lock and/or bridge repairs ordered by the authorities and not announced in advance.

Other information Please bear in mind that your riverboat is, on the one hand, your ‘holiday hotel’ but, on the other hand, also a working vessel that is powered by engines and must be operated continuously, even at night (including lock and bridge passages). We recommend that guests who are particularly sensitive to noise bring earplugs. Passing through locks causes disruption and, unfortunately, cannot be avoided.

Travel documents EU nationals (who do not have any special circumstances, e.g. dual nationality, primary residence abroad or provisionally issued travel documents) require a valid identity card or passport for this trip, which must remain valid for at least 6 months after the end of the trip. If you hold another nationality or multiple nationalities, or if you are subject to specific legal requirements, please check the relevant visa and entry requirements with your local consulate.

This trip is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

We recommend taking out international health insurance covering repatriation, as well as accident, luggage and travel cancellation insurance.

You may cancel your booking at any time after booking. Please refer to the terms and conditions for cancellation fees.
